چکیده

In shared-nothing multipocessor database machines, the storage organization for a relation is independent of the strategy used to decluster the relation. A database administrator for such a system has a wide range of alternatives when creating a relation. In this paper, we analyze the impact of three alternative declustering strategies on the performance of the selection queries using different storagelaccess structures in a multiuser environment. We quantify the tradeoffs of each organization in the context of the Gamma database machine. The response time and throughput of the system are used as the performance metric for evaluating the altemative declustering strategies.

Covariance Analysis of a vector tracking GPS receiver based on MMSE multiuser Detection

In high dynamic conditions, using vector tracking loops instead of scalar tracking loops in GPS receivers is proved as an efficient method to compensate the performance. The Minimum Mean Squared Error detector as a multiuser detector is applied in the vector tracking loop for more reliability and efficiency. The Kalman filter does the two tasks of tracking and extracting the navigation data aft...

Multi-Site Declustering Strategies for Very High Database Service Availability

The thesis introduces the concept of multi-site declustering strategies with self repair for databases demanding very high service availability. Existing work on declustering strategies are centered around providing high performance and reliability inside a small geographical area (site). Applications demanding robustness against site failures like fire and power outages, can not use these meth...

Chained Declustering: A New Availability Strategy for Multiprocessor Database Machines

This paper presents a new strategy for increasing the availability of data in multi-processor, shared-nothing database machines. This technique, termed chained declustering, is demonstrated to provide superior performance in the event of failures while maintaining a very high degree of data availability. Furthermore, unlike most earlier replication strategies, the implementation of chained decl...

A study of object declustering strategies in parallel temporal object database systems

In a transaction-time temporal object database management system (TODBMS), updating an object creates a new version of the object, but the old version is still accessible. A TODBMS will store large amounts of data, and in order to provide the necessary computing power and data bandwidth, a parallel system based on a shared-nothing architecture is necessary. In order to benefit from a parallel a...

Low-Cost Object Declustering Strategies in Parallel Temporal Object Database Systems

In a transaction-time temporal object-oriented database system (TODB), updating an object creates a new version of the object, but the old version is still accessible. A TODB will store large amounts of data, and to provide the necessary computing power and data bandwidth, a parallel system based on a shared-nothing architecture is necessary. In order to benefit from a parallel architecture, a ...
